Welcome back
It’s been a wonderful first week back. We had a great week with lots of learning happening right across the school. Year 6 had a very important visitor this week, James Riley from Get Away and Get Safe. He talked about the dangers of being involved in gangs and how children can keep themselves safe. The children loved his visit and learned so much from him.
Fun Friday Treats
A few weeks ago, we launched our ‘Fun Friday’. Each Friday assembly week, we randomly pick a class to get a special prize just because we want to say thank you for being Brownhill. The catch is that you have to be in school that day to get the prize. So far, 4C, 1W, and 5C have all been winners. Which class will it be next week?
Attendance Rewards
During the last week of term, we have booked five incredible inflatables to come and take over the school field. Each class will get a slot, children have been collected stamps for full weeks of attendance, the more they attend the more time they will get on the inflatables.
Phonics Screening
Next week, Year 1s and some Year 2s will be taking part in the phonics screening. This test measures how well children understand the phonics they have been taught. Children are very used to taking these tests, as they do them every half term. If you have any questions, please pop in and see Mrs Carne, Miss Whiteing, or Mrs Arif.
Year 4 Multiplication Check
Next week, Year 4 will be taking part in the multiplication check. This is done online and only takes about 15 minutes. It is set out to ensure that children know all their times tables by the end of Year 4. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Science Week
We are very excited to be holding our Science week next week, we have a full week planned with activities. This starts on Monday with visitors coming into school and running workshops throughout the day and ends with inviting all the parents into school on Friday afternoon to see what your children have been learning. Look out for your invite next week.
Have a brilliant week :o)
