A Warm Welcome
From our Headteacher
Christina Shanks, Headteacher
Headteacher’s Welcome It is my pleasure to welcome you to Co-op Academy Brownhill. We are a vibrant, inclusive and family-oriented academy with a strong community ethos, proudly serving children and families in the heart of Leeds. We want every child to feel happy, safe and valued, while receiving the support and challenge they need to achieve their very best. Our dedicated teachers, support staff, pastoral team, site staff and governors work closely together to create a welcoming environment in which every child can thrive. We are ambitious for all our pupils and committed to providing high-quality learning experiences that develop their knowledge, confidence, character and curiosity. The Co-op Ways of Being are at the heart of academy life: Be yourself, always; Do what matters most; Show you care; and Succeed together. These values guide our decisions, relationships and expectations, connecting us with Co-op Academies across the country. Strong partnerships with parents and carers are central to our success. By working together, we can ensure that every child feels supported and is given the best possible opportunities for their future. We are incredibly proud of our children, our staff and the wider Brownhill community. I hope our website gives you a flavour of what makes our academy such a special place. If you would like to find out more, we warmly invite you to contact us and arrange a visit.

By the end of key stage 2, pupils’ progress in writing and mathematics is in the top 10% of schools nationally. This highly creditable achievement addresses the area for improvement from the school’s previous inspection well.
Your pupils feel safe in school. They told me that they appreciate their teachers’ kindness, care and support. Pupils are fully aware of the need to behave well, and work hard. They follow your lead and want to succeed.
You, and the head of school, have created a highly inclusive learning environment in which all are valued. Your pupils, who between them speak 43 different languages in addition to English, feel warmly welcomed and secure at school.
