Charging and Remissions Policy 2022-23

This policy should be read with the Co-op Academies Trust Charges and Remissions Policy. The individual Academy charges and remissions for Co-op Academy Brownhill are outlined below, which align with the Trust's policy. Charges and Remissions - Co-op Academies

The Education Act 1996 prohibits a school from charging students/parents for activities in the regular school curriculum. There are, however, specific 'borderline' areas where the policy of the school needs explaining:

Activity or thing which will or may be charged for notes

Charges will/may be made for music tuition.

The cost, or a proportion of the charges, for teaching staff employed to provide tuition in playing a musical instrument or singing, where the education is an optional extra for an individual pupil or groups of up to four pupils

  • The charge will not exceed the actual cost and where possible the Academy seeks to source additional funding to reduce these costs for families.

Day Visits / Trips

  • Requests for voluntary contributions will be made

Charges will/may be made for any materials, books, instruments, or equipment, which is related to an after school club and the parent wishes their child to own them;

  • Eg. Cooking club -

Extended sessions / child care in the Nursery
