Lunchtime and play supervisors wanted

Are you energetic? Do you want a part-time role that will fit in with your role as a parent? Can you engage children in play? Are you passionate about ensuring all children feel happy and safe in school? If so we need you!. The role is for 1hr 15 mins per day and term time only. You will be asked to supervise and engage children in play across their lunchtime. Applications forms can be collected from the main office or please visit our website for further details and application forms. The closing date for applications is Monday 13th December.

Skill Building

Our whole school skill that we are developing this term is LISTENING. All children are working on how to improve their listening skills and the importance of this skill in education and in the workplace.

Why not try our home challenge and help your child improve their skills.

Home Challenge

Think of someone in your family who has a talent that you admire. It could be they are great at baking delicious cakes, or they seem to have green fingers and their plants always grow really well.  They may know lots of card tricks or they have fun ideas of things to do on rainy days.  Ask them to help you learn something they know – to share their talent with you.  Listen carefully as they explain and ask questions to help you understand more.

Reflection Questions

Getting Started: How can you make sure you are listening carefully?

Intermediate: What does it mean to summarise what you have heard?

Advanced: How is the speaker using tone to persuade you the listener?

Mastery: How can you identify the core (main) points being made?

Recycle uniform shop

We are doing all we can to make sure that good quality second-hand uniform is recycled and reused. We have lots of great quality uniforms, coats and some shoes and we would like to make use of these across the school. On Tuesday 30th at 3:15 all second-hand uniforms will be displayed in the hall. Please feel free to come and take the items that you need. We do not ask for any money but if you would like to leave a donation we will use all proceeds to buy Christmas gifts for the Radio Aire magic appeal.

Share in your child’s learning Year 6B

Our first family drop-in session will be held on  Friday 3rd December at 9:00 in the hall for Year 6B. You are invited to come into school,  look at your child’s books and share in your child’s learning. Your child will join you for this session and we will also be offering free tea, coffee, juice and biscuits. These sessions are really informal but they are an opportunity for you to ask any questions to teachers or leaders about learning and school.

Celebrating our diversity

This week I was given the opportunity to meet with our Romanian community and they told me some fantastic information about life in Romania and their culture. On Wednesday it is National Romanian day. This public holiday is always celebrated on December 1st. In Romanian, it is known as ‘Ziua Marii Uniri’ and may also be known as Unification Day or 1918 Union Day. It is the National day of Romania and celebrates the Union of Transylvania with Romania in 1918. We wish all Romanian families a good day on Wednesday
