This week we have had an exciting week of learning. All children had a visit from the Big talk team about relationship education, thank you also to those parents who joined us at the parent information session. Year 6 have been working with Into University and as part of their week’s project went on a school trip to Tropical World. Children across school have also had sessions with the road safety team and worked on the safe crossing of the road outside school and this is all in addition to the normal curriculum sessions that they have had in class.

Listening skills

Across school, our whole school skill which we are building is that of listening. Whilst it is a skill that we all learn as we grow up it still needs to be taught and practised in the same way we do other skills. Here is a little activity you can try at with your child to practice listening:

Listen carefully to a song you know well. It might be one of your favourites.

Really concentrate on the lyrics (words).

Ask yourself what the song is about?  Why do you like it? Do the lyrics tell a story? Which words stand out to you and are memorable?

After you have listened to the song, tell someone else about it. Say why you like it.

Have a go at explaining what you think the song is about.

Can you summarise it or rephrase it? Maybe you can sing it.

Ask them to tell you about one of their favourite songs too

Universal Free School Meals

All children in Reception to Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal. Children can choose daily from 4 different food options including a vegetarian and Halal option and we would encourage all families to take up this offer. The food is delicious and it provides a balanced diet for your child. Dinners are ordered at the beginning of the school day and you can change from packed lunch to dinner at any time.

Please use the link below to see the weekly menu.
